Rigging
The standing rigging is all of the various metal cables that you see holding up the mast. The running rigging is all of the ropes (lines halyards sheets etc) that we use to control the sails and various components. Over time, the rigging ages like everything else and must be replaced. Standing rigging is generally replaced completely, and running rigging can be replaced as various lines show their age. We used a company called Klacko Spars in Oakville to replace all of our standing rigging, and a bit of our running rigging. We weren't sure the last time the rigging was replaced, and decided that since our mast was off, it was the best time to replace the rigging. It definitely can be an expensive pill to swallow, but peace and mind is important. Approx cost: $10,000
